Hello dear listener! Another month of this pandemic has passed, and I still don't know what to do with myself! These two tracks do help :)
This month's album features the sneaky genius of Andrew Neville--he's a seasoned musician, a fantastic photog and a really really nice, funny guy. Halifax is lucky to have him.
Our first track started with three unprocessed vocal diddies that I've been singing around the house. Andrew took them and made them into a diamond banger of a track. Listen closely to the end vocals for a sneaky advertisement for Friskie's Turkey and Cheese.
The second was mostly Andrew's doing (honestly he DELIVERED on this colab)--it features a pail of water suspended and dripping onto another pail.
Andrew explains here: The percussive sounds in this piece were made by drilling a hole in the bottom of a bucket, suspending it from above, filling it with water and allowing the water to drip out onto the bottom of a second bucket. A contact microphone was fixed to the inside of the lower bucket and the sound produced was fed into a delay. The bucket was swung once and as the swing slows the frequency of the water falling changes. The time and modulation of the delay unit was manipulated manually in order to produce a wider range of sounds.
